Climate change has become topical over the past few years and manifests itself in many ways, including rising sea levels and severe whether conditions, among others. Scientists, researchers, meteorologists, farmers, and many other stakeholders are relying on historical data contained in archives to understand climate trends across the globe. Although there is scantly literature on the contribution of archives to research on climate change, the dependance on archives to understand our histories and predict the future is well acknowledged. The focus of this seminar is to cultivate discussions on how archives support the realisation of SDG 13 whose aim is to combat climate change and its impact. The objectives of the seminar include:
1. Interrogating the use of archives in the development of environmentally friendly practices
2. Deliberating on ways of promotion of sound documentation to combat climate change
3. Exchanging ideas on ways of enhance collaboration between archival institutions and climate action proponents
The seminar will draw speakers from academics, climate action experts, researchers, policy makers, climate change activists and many others from the UAE.
